In 1931 somebody left the Lieutenant Governor in charge and while at the helm (pun intended) he appointed several guys as Admirals for the State of Nebraska. Some notable members are: Gene Autry, Johnny Carson, George W. Bush, Jack Benny and Martin Luther King III.

Today is the annual Bataan Memorial Death March, a 26.2-mile race through the New Mexico Desert at White Sands Missile Range. It commemorates the long, grueling forced march of American POWs through the Philippine jungle in 1942. The story of these soldiers was commemorated in the book Ghost Soldiers and the movie The Great Raid.

I was married almost two years before my wife told me what a wuss I was when I was sick. I was totally unaware of how whiny and helpless I became each time I had a fever.
